#DENIMDAYSFESTIVAL: OUR INDIGO-FILLED WEEKEND IN NYC
There’s something about New York City that makes it truly one of a kind. Culture, fashion, art, inspiration—it’s basically the mecca of all-things cool and current. So when we heard that the Denim Days Festival, a 2-day event highlighting what’s new and noteworthy in the world of indigo, was making its North American debut there, we knew we had to be a part of it.
The festival was held on September 30th and October 1st at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea and featured displays, exhibits and workshops from some of the denim industry’s key players. So, obviously it was only fitting for us to take this opportunity to showcase our newest capsule collection, For Us. This collection represents the true craft of denim making—creative, intricate designs and beautiful details all done by hand. It really does embody the natural connection between fashion and art, which was right in line with the festival’s theme.
To go along with the collection preview, we had our friend and talented New York artist Hanna Barczyk (stay tuned for more on her later) come create a live denim art installation during the event. Festivalgoers watched Hanna’s work come to life on a denim canvas, which we auctioned off at the end of the event.
Ok, enough about us. There were so many other cool brands and booths at the event too, from fabric supplier Orta Anadolu and their jean-themed photo booth to Brooklyn Denim Co. and their custom embossed leather bracelets. They even closed off 18th on Sunday for a street fair filled with a variety of food trucks and vendors. Artisan-made fabrics, vintage raw denim and the coolest indigo-dyed mud cloths from Africa—basically a jean lover’s dream come true.
We were so excited to be able to be a part of the first-annual New York Denim Days and can’t wait for next year! Make sure to follow us @silverjeansforus for details on any upcoming events!
