7 WAYS TO UNPLUG WHEN YOU’RE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Whether you’re packing the car or flying across the country, being home is the best part about the holidays. It’s an escape from everyday life, a place where you can feel like a kid again and not have a care in the world. Plus, this much-needed year-end holiday break can be a great time to do things you wouldn’t normally do. Taking a step away from the everyday stresses of life and work can not only be so relaxing, it can also help improve your health, mood and overall productivity so you can start 2019 at your best. So put away the phones, the laptops, endless emails and social media feeds, and enjoy some good old-fashioned activities that were made for holiday break.

1. GET OUTDOORS

There’s something about the crisp winter air that’s super refreshing and rejuvenating. Whether it’s going for a hike or skiing, or something more mellow like a bonfire or even ice skating, make sure you do at least one outdoor activity over holiday break.

2. PLAY A BOARD GAME

Getting a little competitive and breaking out a classic board game is great for bringing the family together over the holiday, kids, parents, grandparents and all can enjoy!

3. MAKE S’MORES

Winter break is nothing without the warm, gooey goodness of a melted marshmallow with hints of chocolate and graham cracker. Whether you make them over the stove or a real campfire, the satisfaction will be the same.

4. MOVIE MARATHON

There are so many good holiday movies that you only get to watch one time a year, so why not binge them all! Have a movie marathon with the family featuring some seasonal classics: A Christmas Story, Elf and Home Alone are some of our favorites.

5. READ A NOVEL

Getting lost in a page-turning novel is something we should all do more of, so why not take advantage of your time off to do so. We love a good mystery or thriller that you won’t be able to put down.

6. SLEEP IN

When was the last time you actually slept past 7am? It’s probably been a while, so take the time this holiday break to get some serious shut eye. Even if you have to trade off with your partner to feed the kids breakfast, it’ll do wonders!

7. BAKE COOKIES

We all spend countless hours in the kitchen on a weekly basis, but how often are we making something indulgent and actually fun? Get some cookie dough and cutters and create some fun holiday-themed treats, Bonus points if you decorate them, too.
